Tenure Track position in consumer and user innovations

Role profile

In this Tenure Track position the focus in research is on end users, consumers and their activities in various roles. Key areas of research include user innovations, users and user communities as a resource for innovation activities, the commercialization of innovations, and consumer-driven business models. The research area also includes platform business, related to consumers and users. 

The successful candidate is expected  to provide evidence of academic research and interest in research in the subject area of ‘Consumer and User Innovation’. The candidate’s specific expertise may be related to, but is not limited to, the following subject areas:

  • Users and user communities as producers and disseminators of innovations
  • Users as resources and innovators in the platform business (marketplaces,  innovation platforms, social media, crowdfunding)
  • New methods and tools, and ways to generate understanding and information on consumption practices, consumer mindsets and needs (data-based marketing)
  • Connecting users to the co-creation and development of product and service innovations in companies and communities (open innovation, co-development, crowdsourcing)
  • Commercialization of consumer innovations; entrepreneurship and consumer-driven business models (e.g. platforms as facilitators of the users' business operations)

The position is based in the School of Marketing and Communication. The research work takes place on the multidisciplinary and open research platform InnoLab, which focuses on open and user innovation, entrepreneurship, and public sector innovation and renewal. More information: 

Your profile and requirements

The Tenure Track position is research-orientated, but the appointed person will also acquire external funding, deliver high-quality teaching and theses supervision, actively participate in activities within the scientific community and university administration, as well as create societal impact through their work. The scope of responsibilities is determined according to the career stage of the successful candidate and agreed in more detail in the Annual Work Plan.

We are looking for candidates with an applicable  doctoral degree (PhD) together with, excellent academic merit as well as evidence of the potential to produce high quality research and evidence of good quality teaching or the potential to provide it. We value applicants’ experience in any of the above mentioned subject areas. Additionally, in the selection process, we emphasize the applicants’ plan to focus future research on one / some of the above subject areas and the InnoLab platform.   • The position will be filled fixed-term primarily as Assistant or Associate Professor under the tenure track system. Applicants for a permanent position of Professor may also be considered.
