Researcher (Post-Doc) 1-2 positions, Research Platform InnoLab

We are inviting applications for a Post-doctoral Researcher in one or more of the following areas: open and user innovation, platform economy, crowdsourcing, entrepreneurship, and public sector innovation and renewal.

These positions are aimed at recent doctoral graduates from a relevant field of research. Both vacancies are to be filled for a fixed term of 1-2 years.

Both vacancies are to be initially filled for one year, but can be extended, depending on the applicant’s overall performance and success in securing project funding.

The tasks will begin at the beginning of February 2019, or as agreed. These positions are located in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship (InnoLab) research platform.

InnoLab is a multidisciplinary open research platform in the University of Vaasa. The goal of InnoLab is to create innovative and unique research and to promote new ways of doing science. The platform’s supporting pillars are inclusion, creativity, reduced hierarchies, and active citizens.


Conducting research and scientific publishing in a field relevant to InnoLab’s research topics and themes (see above), and writing funding applications.

All tasks will be agreed in more detail in the Annual Work Plan. The annual working time will be 1624 hours.


The applicant should have a relevant PhD degree, although applicants close to graduation (in maximum 6 months’ time) will also be considered. In this case the position title will be project researcher. Candidates should also possess good communication and interaction skills, as well as the ability to engage in multiple disciplines with international colleagues within the University as well with our external collaborators (e.g. companies, industries, City of Vaasa, third sector organizations, media).

Strong written and spoken English language skills are mandatory. One of the two available positions requires fluent Finnish skills, both written and spoken.


The salary is based on the University Salary System for Teaching and Research Staff. The salary for a Researcher is based on job demand level 5 (2903€/month). The salary for a project researcher is based on job demand levels 2-4 (2011-2507€/month). An additional personal salary component is paid based on work performance amounting to not more than 50% of the job-specific component.
